Day in the Life of a Coder

We did time-lapse screen capture on our development computer for one day, compressing ten hours to five minutes, and then set to music. The screen resolution is intentionally reduced– we don’t want anyone reading code, just get a general overview of activity. The screen blanks for short periods when the screen saver activates, where we had to switch to a different computer for code testing, or had to run out and do an errand.

You may notice a good amount of blog reading, surfing, and a few on-line purchases. Does this coder have Internet Attention Deficit Disorder? Perhaps a mild case– or not so mild? We cannot help wondering how the video would compare to work done ten years ago, when we still had slow dial-up access.
