I was able to reproduce this on my computer. I must have missed it before
when testing Windows 10 because I never shut down my computer– it almost
never needs to reboot now.
Strange that other customers have not reported this yet.
I will need to do a version update. Until then, here is a workaround
that works for me.
0) Close WinChime if it is open or running in background.
1) In File Explorer, go into the location where the WinChime .EXE file
is located,
typically “C:\Program Files (x86)\WinChime”
2) Right-click on the WinChime application file, and select “Properties” and
select the “Compatibility tab.
3) Click “Change settings for all users” then “Run this program in
compatibility mode”
and select “Windows 7”.
4) Click OK and then OK.
5) Start WinChime again.
WinChime should stop showing an error when shutting down the computer– or
at least it does when testing on our machines. Let us know if you
still see an error,
so then we know this quick-fix might not work for all computers.
